Mopane! Acacia! Ebony! Tamarind!

Try sitting under the shade of a Mopane Tree and you won't have much shade! The Mopane leaves close up in the sun all the day! The leaves are shaped like butterflies. I have not seen a Mopane Tree but I might see one soon.

this is a picture we found on google images - it's the Mopane leaf

Mopane is the team of my 'house' at school. The teams are named for four trees: Mopane, Acacia, Tamarind, and Ebony. My tree is Mopane and the Mopane team is green.

Mom took this picture - I'm on my way to school. It's PE day so I wear my Mopane shirt. I bring my schoolwork every day in my homework schoolbag.

Elephants really like the mopane tree. The mopane worm lives on a mopane tree! People eat the mopane worm - they roast it! Some people don't eat bugs - and I don't! Maybe I will!

The Acacia nickname is the "nothing tree." Mommy brought me an acacia branch from an acacia tree - it has so much thorns, I don't know how a giraffe could eat that!

Acacia branch (There is a good story behind this photo...)

The Tamarind Tree grows in Africa and Asia and especially in Madagascar. Zaboo lives in Madagascar - ring tailed lemurs eat the leaves and seeds. The color of the wood is red.

The Ebony Tree is from India, not Zambia! The wood is black. Instruments like pianos and guitars, black piano keys are made from Ebony.
